A PTZ (Pan–Tilt–Zoom) camera can turn horizontally, tilt vertically and zoom in optically. An operator controls it by hand, or it follows a preset patrol route.
PTZ cameras are useful for large areas such as car parks, yards and warehouses. But while the camera points one way it can't see the rest of the area — so it is usually installed alongside fixed cameras.
