With remote viewing, the owner can watch live video and recordings over the internet — through the manufacturer's app, a web interface or a VPN.
For security it's essential to use a strong, unique password (change the default), keep the recorder's firmware updated and enable two-factor authentication where possible. Exposing the recorder directly to the internet through open ports is risky.
