Each network outlet in the office has a cable running to the cabinet, where it terminates in a patch panel port. From there, short patch cords connect it to the switch.
This keeps the network labelled and manageable: every port has a number, changes and troubleshooting happen without a tangle of cables, and replacing a switch is easier.
