Every computer, printer, camera and phone on a network has an IP address — for example 192.168.1.25. That is how the network knows where to send data.
Private addresses work only inside the office network, while a public address works on the internet. Servers, printers and recorders are usually given a fixed (static) IP so the address never changes.
